Sports Premium
The government provides funding for primary school sports. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools and must be used in such a way that all children benefit regardless of their sporting ability.
All schools must use the sports premium to fund additional and sustainable improvements for provision of PE and sport, but there is freedom to choose how we choose to spend it.
At Alfred Salter, we use the Sports Premium funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE, physical activity and sport we offer. We recognise the contribution of PE to develop healthy, active lifestyles and believe that an innovative and varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all children.
All spending of the Sports Premium will therefore support Alfred Salter in achieving one of the following indicators:
-
develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport activities that we already offer;
-
build capacity and capability within our school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years;
-
support the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity;
-
elevate the profile of PE and sport across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement;
-
increase the confidence, knowledge and skills of all our staff in teaching PE and sport
-
allow all of our pupils to experience a broader range of sports and activities;
-
increased participation in competitive sport.
